AUTOMATED
GARBAGE
COLLECTION

Pro Star Waste offers a transition from the
manual collection of household garbage to an automated system.
This new system has been tried and tested with
great success throughout Polk and San Jacinto Counties, as well as
many other cities across Texas and the United States. The system is
much more efficient and offers many advantages.
1. What is Automated Collection?
Automated collection is a system of
garbage collection that requires a special vehicle and garbage
container. Each new residential customer is provided with a
98-gallon cart, which the resident rolls to street side on
collection day. The operator never leaves the truck cab; controlling
the loading operation from the driver’s seat. The entire process
takes approximately 10 seconds. After collection, the resident
rolls the durable, weather resistant cart back to its regular indoor
or outdoor location.
2. Why is Automated Collection better
than traditional methods? The
most important feature of an automated system is that it allows the
collection of garbage much more efficiently. Since the automated
collection vehicle requires a crew of only one driver, compared to
a crew of three persons under the previous manual collection system,
no workers will be on your property.
Pro Star Waste will supply an extremely durable
industrial quality cart with a close fitting lid. This eliminates an
expense on your part for personal cans.
The animal proof, tough cart with stay-on lid
helps reduce windblown litter and improves the appearance of the
neighborhood.
The carts are maneuverable and easy to roll, No
more strained backs from “carrying out the garbage”. Even most
elderly and teens can easily move the carts.
3. How will I get my cart?
Carts are delivered to each residence
or small business which desires to do business with Pro star Waste.
Payment is collected in advance on a quarterly basis, and someone
must sign for delivery of the cart. Each cart is assigned to a
specific address by serial number that is hot stamped on the cart.
4. What size cart is available?
Each residential customer will be provided a
98-gallon cart. National surveys indicate that 98-gallons per week
is adequate for an average household. As mentioned, all garbage must
be placed in the cart.
5. May I continue to use my old trash
cans? The roll-out carts provided
by Pro Star Waste are specifically made to withstand the forces of
the mechanical gripper and vehicle lifting arm. For this reason, the
automated truck will pick up only the new carts. Your old trash cans
cannot be used.
6. How often is my garbage picked up?
Your household garbage, which you will place in
the wheeled garbage cart, will be picked up once per week.
7. When do I place my cart at street
side for pickup? The cart
should be placed at the street no later than 7:00 AM on your
scheduled collection day. The cart should be removed from the street
and returned to its regular indoor or outdoor location as soon as
possible after pickup is made.
8. Where do I place the cart on
collection day?
Under normal circumstance, the cart should be
placed at or near the driveway about 3 feet from any mailbox, or
other obstacle. Always place the cart within 3 feet of the street
with wheels and handle towards your residence, as shown by arrows on
the lid.
9. What kind of refuse can I put in the
cart?
Typical household garbage can be placed in the
cart. Grass, leaves and small branches may be placed in the cart as
long as the lid will close completely. In the interest of cart
cleanliness, we encourage the use of plastic bags for wet garbage,
and the occasional hosing out of the cart.
10.
What are my options for garbage that will not fit in the cart?
If your garbage consistently exceeds your
cart’s capacity, you may need to request an additional cart. Please
contact the Pro Star office to make the necessary arrangements.
Special Note:
Do not fill your cart above the rim such that
the lid will not close. A closed lid helps prevent litter, odor and
spillage when the cart is lifted for dumping. If the cart is
overloaded, trash may fall to the ground. This spillage will not be
picked up by the truck driver.
11. What if my cart is stolen or
destroyed? If the cart is damaged
or stolen, please contact Pro Star. You may be required to pay for a
replacement. However, if Pro Star Waste damages your cart, or damage
occurs through normal wear and tear, your cart will be repaired or
replaced at no cost to you.
The cart remains the property of Pro Star Waste
and must not be painted, abused, mutilated, altered or modified in
any way.
12.
What about parking on collection days?
We ask that you do not park at the curb, or
near the cart, on collection day. This should eliminate missed
service due to blocked carts.
13. What happens when I move?
Carts will always remain the property of Pro
Star Waste. If you move, contact the Pro Star office and make
arrangements to return the cart..
14. What if my collection day falls
on an observed Holiday? Pro Star Waste provides
service Monday through Friday. Residential trash service is
suspended on observed holidays, and service will be provided on the
next day, excluding weekends. Pro Star Waste observes the following
holidays for cart service:
New Years Day - January 1
Memorial Day – Last Monday in May
Independence Day – July 4th (Observed)
Labor Day – First Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day - Last Thursday in November
Christmas Day – December 25
